Hybrid/Distributed Work in Global Environment

Case Study:

Global technology company

A global technology company with developers in geopolitically sensitive areas as well as in existing offices had to navigate the realities of government sanctions as well as the corporate culture of whether to maintain offices and to what extent as the health threat of the pandemic abated. Developed a hybrid and globally distributed software development approach for technology company that allowed it to optimize work across systems globally and create a customer advocacy and quality culture among the development team.  Key in the process was engaging developers and other professionals in the conversation and ensuring that goals, productivity measures and technology were used effectively to manage a globally fluid workforce. Key in the process was assessing geopolitical concerns in the context of employees as stakeholders. The resulting process resulted in a flexible department country-specific response that allowed for flexibility of movement of developers that allowed for nearly zero productivity drop off in a very difficult global solution.  The resulting culture was enhanced by staff seeing that the company culture and employee needs met by engaging staff in a “what is the right thing now” approach to balancing employee and business needs.
